The themes covered are:

  • Definition of the protocol and its multiple aspects
  • Write down and compose an invitation in contexts bringing together public authorities (national or international)
  • Reception of public authorities and presentations
  • Precedence and different table placements
  • Drafting official correspondence and honorary titles
  • Meals and receptions (table arrangements and cutlery)
  • Public speaking in protocol contexts
  • Clothing required during official public events
  • Placement of flags
  • Souvenirs and gifts
  • The press conference and official photo shooting
Learning outcomes of the learning unit :
At the end of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Understand the multiple constraints and different habits that govern protocol events at a national or international level
  • Know these uses and be able to apply them to different ceremonial situations where they will be required
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
This Teaching Unit is given in English for certain sections. Knowledge of this language is therefore required at A2 level.

Assessment methods and criteria :
In-person written exam - MCQ

Weighted arithmetic average with exclusion score (if score between 0 and 8 not included). As the Teaching Unit only has one Learning Session, in practice it is the arithmetic average that is applied (LS = 100% of the weighting).

Grading methods: the student will be evaluated on the end-of-term MCQ
