This Q2 Graphic Design Practice UE addresses in a practical way, but not exclusively, the following general content:

Graphic design is the creation, selection and use of graphic elements (drawings, typography, photographs, colors, etc.) to develop an object of communication and/or culture. It is a way of representing. Each of the elements is symbolic and significant in the design of the project, according to the axes defined possibly with other intervening parties in the field of communication, with the aim of promoting, informing or educating and entertaining.

It should be noted that the Q1 Fundamentals of Graphic Design and the Q2 Practice of Graphic Design are two independent UE's : passing one does not mean passing the other.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit :
From an essentially (but not exclusively) practical point of view...

the basics of drawing;
the basics of culture;
the basics of graphic communication;
the basics of computer systems and graphics software;

Those are the knowledge which you need to develop in parallel with the learning of the concepts in this course. The other courses in this Bachelor's degree in graphic techniques will be potentially useful for the creation in this Learning Unit.

Acquiring and practicing the fundamental basics of graphic design is the objective of this course and of the teachers who propose to develop your learning and your projects according to your level and your motivations.
In order to do this, regular dialogue with the teacher is essential.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
From an essentially (but not exclusively) practical point of view...
Various graphic creations.
Examples of graphic designs that could be addressed :
digital illustration (digital painting on tablet, light and shadow values, character creation, coloring); Vector design (lines and shapes, pictograms, logotypes, diagrams); page layout (composition and typography), ...
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning) :
The teaching modalities will be defined by the teacher as the semester progresses, he or she will choose and communicate to the students through the planned communication channels to indicate that the course will take place face-to-face or at a distance, synchronously or asynchronously.
Recommended or required readings :
Based on your academic registration, you will have access to the HEAJ Moodle platform.

Depending on the group you are enrolled in, you will then follow the course accesses corresponding to your teacher(s).

A list of books on the fundamentals is proposed by the teachers, some of which can be consulted on site at the time of the course and/or available in the library.
Assessment methods and criteria :
Through the teaching and learning methods proposed, the student will be able to demonstrate in personal work the pratice of graphic design while meeting the plastic and technical requirements and using the functionalities of the software and the graphic techniques imposed (see "instructions" or "briefings" in the course materials).

Continuous assessment, then, in the event that the UE has not been validated at the end of this continuous assessment, an exam will be organized the following sessions. NB: if circumstances require it, the test may be replaced by a distance assessment and/or a paper to be handed in. The precise modalities will be specified in a briefing given at least 10 days in advance.

If certain skills have been acquired, but the UE has not been validated, only the skills not acquired must be represented. The teacher(s) will be able to tell you which skill(s) to represent.

The evaluation of the UE is based on a non-integrated test (one evaluation per activity). In order for the UE to be validated, the student must obtain an average of 50% or more for the UE . The grade of the UE is obtained through a deliberation that may involve all the teachers of the UE.

Criteria: Reliability (respect of instructions and deadlines), quality and relevance of the preparatory work, creativity, technical mastery, communication.
