Learning unit contents :
By drawing on various disciplines (social psychology, sociology, history, etc.), this course aims to enable students to develop a critical understanding of the notion of interculturality. To this end, certain important concepts will be discussed and clarified (culture, identity, social norms, stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination, racism, domination, etc.).

In this course, the notion of interculturality is linked to that of social justice. The inequalities that run through society (as well as the history and social contexts in which these inequalities are embedded) will thus play an important role in our understanding of the issues linked to interculturality.

Finally, the aim is to provide future public relations students with the tools they need to deal with intercultural issues in communication situations.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit :
At the end of the course, students will be able to :

- understand the intercultural issues surrounding communication situations, using concepts from the human and social sciences covered in the course;

- identify elements that may hinder communication and, on the contrary, identify points of attention that can encourage intercultural communication that takes account of social justice issues.

Within the EU, the objectives are :

- to develop a critical approach to the notion of interculturality and to apply it in communication situations.

- to understand the societal issues surrounding communication situations in intercultural contexts.
